PURPOSE OF THE COURSE
In the RAID Freediver course you acquire the Proper skills and knowledge to partake in Freediving to depths of 20 meters in the most relaxed and safest manner possible. You will develop skills necessary to train your body to be more efficient with oxygen, gain better respiration and muscle flexibility and learn new skills to explore your Freediving potential to the maximum.
NOTE: Persons new to freediving – this Level provides you with a WSF worldwide recognised diver certification to be able to freedive in a safe and concise way.
This programme is broken into two sections:
FIRST SECTION – THEORY
This is the theory or academic section, which any person may take and complete, followed, without obligation, the Practical Section which is the session where you can learn, with your Instructor, the underwater skills necessary for this level of training and complete your certification.
When you purchase this programme on-line you are effectively purchasing the access for 6 months to the theoretical content, knowledge reviews and exam for this level of diver training, which consists of downloadable PDF manuals with detailed information.
There is such a wealth of information in these comprehensive manuals and is well worth the cost alone!
RAID provides you with more information and knowledge development than any Instructor led lectures only or short video can provide in a limited time period generally offered.
Purchase this course and you will receive the comprehensive academic training package, without the need to complete the practical session (no obligation).
The on-line academic training package includes:
Quick Quiz and Exam (open book)
6 month access to manuals (can download)
SECOND SECTION – PRACTICAL TRAINING

This is where the theroy goes into practice, the core techniques for Freediving that you will use for a lifetime are developed during the first sessions, proper breathing and relaxation, efficient fining techniques and correct body position for maximum hydrodynamics, the buddy system and safety are all covered, the confined water sessions are like an open water simulator, this gives you the chance to become comfortable with the Freediving skills before taking them to Open Water.
Open Water – minimum 2 Freediving sessions
The real magic happens in the open water where we can explore our own potential and the amazing underwater world, put all the confined water practice into play and further develop your Freediving skills with Equalisation strategy to become comfortable and confident with freediving to depths safely.

Course fees include pool fees and equipment. For AIDA courses the certification costs are due at the end of the course you wish to be signed off for, normally 20 Euros per certification. The PADI courses include the first certification when you purchase the Freediver Touch. Open water fees are not included, some sites are free, some charge and that is payable locally.
Yes – all equipment is provided, the school carries full kit, enough to kit several groups at once, so sizing is rarely an issue.
We have a cross over chart so that we can enrol you onto the appropriate course. Also those agencies that are not recognised, we can find fair ways of enrolling you onto the appropriate course and getting value from it. A freediver is a freediver, as well as rules being rules.
18 years to become an AIDA Freediver, if you have parental permission and you are joining with a parent, the age is 16 years of age.
12 months unless you visit us in-between that time and do some refresher training, then it can last another 12 months from that date. It is also possible to be signed off at the Pool Freediver level you are at (you would be charged a nominal fee for the certification if doing it using this method). Most people however want to move onto the open water section of the course and complete the full Freediver course.
You can get fit doing the sport! General health is important for safety, you will get a medical form to fill in, it is a self-declaration form. If you have any significant medical problems (heart/lungs, diabetes, asthma for example) you would need to see a Doctor first to see if the sport was for you. Many people have mild symptoms that do not preclude them from the sport with a Doctors permission, however a serious condition would likely stop you. You will benefit from a basic level of fitness, but being slightly overweight or slightly unfit won’t stop you from doing really well in the course. It is something you can work on.
