We’re thrilled to invite you to join an extraordinary Arctic adventure: each winter, vast shoals of herring migrate into Norway’s fjords, drawing orcas, humpback, and fin whales into the icy waters.
This remarkable natural event offers a rare chance to freedive alongside these incredible marine mammals in their wild habitat, surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Arctic Circle.
Trip Overview
- Dates: 27th – 30th November
- Base: Skjervoy, in the heart of Norway’s Arctic Circle
- Travel: Fly into Tromsø Airport. We’ll collect rental cars and drive approximately 3.5 hours to Skjervoy. We return the day after the final freediving excursion on Monday. Many extend this portion of the trip to do extra excursions.
The Experience
- Daily excursions on a 12-person private RIB boat with a professional captain, crew and in-water freediving guide
- Only 10 guest spaces available per boat – ensuring a small-group experience with ample space on the boat
- High chance to witness the Northern Lights, especially during the long Arctic winter nights
- End of November to January, the sun never rises above the horizon – only a few hours of magical twilight each day, giving the fjords an ethereal Arctic glow
- Breathtaking scenery: snow-covered peaks, icy fjords, and the unique atmosphere of the polar night

Accommodation
- Standard rooms are twin-sharing (two guests per room)
- Single-occupancy rooms are available on request for an additional fee (subject to availability)

- Two nights’ accommodation (twin-sharing as standard)
- RIB boat hire (12-person boat, max 10 guests) with experienced captain, crew and in-water freediving guide

Guests will need to arrange and budget separately for the following:
- Airport parking in the UK: approx. £18 per person (based on 4 people sharing one car)
- Flights (Luton – Tromsø): approx. £95 per person
- Luggage allowance: approx. £69 per person (based on two people sharing one 32 kg checked bag)
- Rental car and fuel for Tromsø–Skjervoy transfer: approx. £52 per person (based on 4 people sharing a rental car)
- Meals: approx. £100 per person (for two lunches and two dinners)
- Personal expenses / optional extras

Notes & Recommendations
- The drive from Tromsø is around 3.5 hours; we recommend at least two drivers per car.
- Please bring suitable cold-water freediving kit; we’ll share a full kit list to help you prepare.
- We may hire a larger vehicle if needed for group gear.
